Dev Anand died in December 2011. The September after, Nishad marked what would have been his eighty-ninth birthday with an evening of his songs — and then did it again the next year, and the next. Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke has returned on or around his birthday ever since.
The songs are sung live to musical tracks while the films they came from play behind the singers. In 2023, for his centenary, the show ran from half past three in the afternoon until nine at night, with an interval and dinner — the longest programme Nishad has staged.
